Shael Oswal reveals reality shows are scripted

When asked if reality shows are scripted, Shael Oswal answered, “Let me tell you the truth. Yes, the truth is that these things happen because I have seen them happening in front of me. It was scripted to some extent. It is already known what needs to be said and done, and to a large extent, it is also decided who will win the awards. You know, I think it’s an open secret; everybody knows that. There is nothing hidden about it. But I think a show is a show, you know. And, you know, how can I… I’m not finding the right word, but I think it’s something we all have to live with, right? We have to enjoy that moment. People enjoy it, and the TRPs are increasing for the channels, right, because of these shows. It’s okay; it’s part of the job, I think.”

Speaking about the credibility of Reality shows being scripted, Shael said, “You know, honestly, I think I’m like nobody to say anything about that because I believe that’s the channel’s design, you know, how they planned the whole show. The producers who created it—they just call us and ask us to sit down. I was there to promote my new song, and you know, she was there too.”

He concluded, “But, at the end of the day, I mean, we were both talking to each other during the breaks, like, ‘This thing with her mother is so melodramatic that it feels scripted.’ I said, ‘It does seem like it,’ you know, because they dragged it on for so long. It felt a bit melodramatic, you know. But I enjoyed it—it was nice.”
